Job Description: Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Class 2 Lorry Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience with a Class 2 license and a proven track record of safe and efficient driving. As a Class 2 Lorry Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods in a timely and professional manner while adhering to all relevant regulations and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate a Class 2 lorry to transport goods to designated locations.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the lorry, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure the safety of oneself and others on the road.
- Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with customers and the public.
Requirements:
- Valid Class 2 driving license with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past year.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
- Excellent driving skills, including maneuvering in various road and weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and occasional overnight trips as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with delivery routes in the local area.
- Forklift operation certification.
- Hazardous materials handling certification (if applicable).
