HGV Class 2 Lorry Driver

Job Description: Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Class 2 Lorry Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience with a Class 2 license and a proven track record of safe and efficient driving. As a Class 2 Lorry Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods in a timely and professional manner while adhering to all relevant regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently operate a Class 2 lorry to transport goods to designated locations.
  • Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the lorry, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure the safety of oneself and others on the road.
  • Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with customers and the public.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 2 driving license with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past year.
  • Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Excellent driving skills, including maneuvering in various road and weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and occasional overnight trips as required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with delivery routes in the local area.
  • Forklift operation certification.
  • Hazardous materials handling certification (if applicable).
